Who are we?
Blackford Community Council is the organisation which represents the interests of the residents of Blackford. Its councillors are elected by vote and serve a three-year term of office.
The councillors need as much information as possible about the concerns which people in Blackford have with regard to ANY local issues which affect or may affect them. The Community Council recognises that not all residents have the time or the inclination to attend its monthly meeting, so the introduction of this website is a means to promote communication.
As a Blackford resident, please contact us with details of what worries you about what is happening, or is perhaps not happening, in Blackford. As a visitor, may we look forward to welcoming you in Blackford, for as long as you wish to stay. Any comments about our village will be greatly appreciated.
Community Council meetings are held on the last Tuesday of each month, unless otherwise notified, and all are welcome to attend. The meetings begin at 7:30pm and usually last for around ninety minutes.
If you have any queries or points to make, please either address them to the councillors directly (see the contact details on the last page of this website), or send an email to the Council at the address given. We will not, as a rule, reply by email to individual queries, but will include them in the agenda for the next Council meeting, when they will be debated.

What is in Blackford?
Blackford lies just to the north of the M9/A9 trunk road running from the northern end of the M74 motorway (Carlisle to Glasgow) to Perth and all points further north in Scotland. Glasgow is some 40 miles away, Edinburgh about the same, and Stirling and Perth are 18 miles distant, in opposite directions. There are regular bus services to both Stirling and Perth and points in between. Rail connections to local destinations and further afield (the main Inverness - London service can be accessed two miles away) are available at Gleneagles or Dunblane. COBRA, a campaign to re-open Blackford Station, is receiving significant attention - it is intended to provide a link to the COBRA website (currently in development).
Apart from 556 (and growing) residents, Blackford is home to a number of businesses, both large and small. Blackford has a village store with Post Office, one three-star hotel, one public house, one fast-food outlet and one garage. The village is also the home of Highland Spring, one of the world’s pre-eminent suppliers of bottled water. The Tullibardine distillery is now part of a major tourist centre with specialist shops, refreshment and dining facilities. The centre opened in the third quarter of 2004.
Blackford is home to the first Highland Games of the annual calendar. The games are held on the last Saturday in May. Blackford Gala, an annual event, is held in June.
